very nice July 12, 2010 M. M. S. (Texas) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I got this very quickly. I have been sleeping on this almost every night. I can't say it keeps your hair from messing up during the night, but it does help somewhat. Mine doesn't seem to get hot during the night like some people have mentioned. Maybe it helps that I have a down pillow to absorb the heat. The case is smooth, comfy, and has been washed several times and seems to be holding up just fine. The fold-over opening is kind of worthless since it won't really stay closed, and mine just flops open, so a traditional slip on might have been better. Over-all this has been what I wanted. I wish it had some other color choices for this price.
Not What I Expected July 8, 2010 DG (Middletown, OH United States) 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
Not as soft and silky as I was expecting. OK quality, but not worth what it cost.
Satin? SCHMATIN! Get the real thing - SILK Baby June 18, 2010 L. Sherman-young (Livin it up in, The Bahamas) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
I was not a believer when I first compared this pillowcase to its satin contemporaries: How can it be real silk, at such a great price AND be machine washable? I was exceedingly skeptical. But, the bargain hunter in me said "Why settle for the imitation when you can get the real thing at nearly the same price?". I purchased, and happily, I was not disappointed.
My reasons for wanting a new pillowcase were twofold:
First, I have always had dry, sensitive skin, and had been instructed by my dermatologist to keep my skin moisturized. Plain old cotton just wasn't cutting it in that regard.
Secondly, I had recently begun wearing my hair in its naturally kinky-curly state, and began looking for ways to optimize hair retention. As curly hair is naturally the driest hair texture, I knew I couldn't stick with cotton if I wanted to protect my tresses...PLUS my old pillowcases totally frizzed up my curls, EEEK!
My search for a satin pillowcase led me to this Holy Grail of moisture retention! Some of the main plusses: it's a natural material; it doesn't have a pesky zipper, but slips over the pillow comfortably and holds confidently, and it doesn't get hot either. I live in a humid climate, and I was worried that it might get unbearably warm, but it only got as warm as any other pillowcase I've slept on, and, if I wake up at night, I can just flip it, and its nice and cool. I've washed it, and so far, I haven't noticed any change in the fabric.
After a hard day, the silky smoothness of this pillowcase beckons me to lie down and be soothed, and when I awaken, I don't have that unsightly crushed pillowface that we all dread!
At this price, do yourself a favor and get two!
I was doubious because of the price. Boy, was I surprised! June 12, 2010 Genevieve Rohan (Tollhouse, Ca United States) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
Both my husband and myself are losing hair at an alarming rate. His stylist recommended we try silk pillow cases. These cases were color neutral, machine washable and not restrictively expensive. We are completely pleased with them. I have washed them once and so far, so good. We'll see if they really make any difference up top or if that is just wishful thinking.
Comfortable summer sleeping May 26, 2010 Debbie (New York) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
Silk is a great material for pillowcases--there's no friction between your head and the pillow. The price was excellent for this one. It seems a little thin, which is why I only gave it 4 stars, but silk is supposed to be very strong. If it turns out to be durable, it's a 5 star product.
