Amazon.com Review Is our baby eating enough? Is this much crying normal? How do I know when she is really sick? This hefty, 671-page guide to your baby's first year is brought to you by the creators of the bestselling What to Expect When You're Expecting. The three authors, all mothers themselves, are calm, clear, and encouraging as they tackle the first year of child-rearing, month by month. The easy-to-absorb, chronological format includes sections such as "What Your Baby May Be Doing," "What You Can Expect at This Month's Checkups," "Feeding Your Baby This Month," "What You May Be Concerned About," and "What It's Important to Know." Part Two addresses special concerns such as illness, first aid do's and don'ts, the low-birthweight baby, the adopted baby, becoming a father, and sibling relationships. You'll also find discussions of breastfeeding and bottlefeeding, selecting a physician for the baby, diapers and clothing, safety, and many ways of stimulating the baby's development. The recipes for babies and toddlers in Part Three are useful, as are the recommended home remedies; charts on common childhood illnesses; height and weight; and the thorough index. (A particular strength of the book is the authors' careful attention to diet and nutrition for both mother and baby, incorporating the American Academy of Pediatrics' latest recommendations on infant nutrition.) While some of the authors' perspectives are controversial (such as whether to let your baby "cry it out" or not), this book remains one of the most comprehensive resources for new parents as they toddle through their baby's first year.

Not Updated!!!! July 27, 2010 Heather (Las Vegas, NV) I ordered this book thinking I was getting the updated version...I was wrong. This is an older version by several years. Ridiculous.
Great book!!!! A must have July 19, 2010 gruiz26 This book is very informative. I am expecting my first and this book has so much important information. I love reading it because its written in a way that one can relate to it and understand it. I highly recommend it to all parents.
Yet Another "Child as Problem" Book July 6, 2010 Andrea Stewart (SPOKANE, WA, US) 1 out of 4 found this review helpful
This book is scary on many different levels. I have tried to find information on the so called "experts" that have compiled this book. The most impressive credential among this lot is a Bachelor of Science in Nursing! These women propose several schemes to get your tiny baby to behave as you would see fit...They support the "let them cry themselves to sleep method" and warn "don't let them sleep in your room--that could mess us your sex life and foster little people who will have the audacity to want nurturing". These women obviously malign children and approach them as problems that must be managed rather than the beautiful, amazing people they are. This book is everywhere: who knows how many children have been irreparably damaged by this vicious throwback to the 1950's. There are excellent books out there, written by people with the compassion and education to be true authorities on child rearing. This piece of trash is not among them.
Helpful but not my favorite July 5, 2010 Leggy Chick I bought this because I used What to Expect When You're Expecting so much. This book was read but didn't get as much use. It was still useful, but I don't love it. As of right now, I don't think I'll be getting the toddler version.
A 'must read'... July 5, 2010 Deuce (Biloxi, MS USA) This book is a continuation on the "What to Expect When You're Expecting" idea. My wife has found this book to be very informative. Every mom, new or otherwise, can rely on this book to give real info and real advice for real questions and issues. Even after being a father for 16 yrs (prev marriage), I've gotten a great deal from the book. Some parts validate my actions while other parts of it answer lingering questions I had over the years. Great book!
