OK, but small, I measured the capacity of this unit July 20, 2010 Meredith D. (Salt Lake City, UT) I've had my humidifier for over a year and it's worked well in that time. It doesn't hold a lot of water. A moment ago I filled the reservoir within a centimeter of the top with water and measured the result and I found it held 88 US fluid ounces (0.6875 US gallons.) Although it was much smaller than expected when I received it, and I felt the description was misleading, the unit performs well. It's not too loud for me at all. On high, it usually runs out of water before the night is through. I tend to run it on high when I'm awake and refill as necessary and run it on low when asleep. I've actually never cleaned it (bad me) and it does have some mineral deposit 'junk' that leaks out the side sometimes. It tends to increase the humidity of a room a little bit, it can get my 11% humidity room up (living room/dining room without carpet) to 20% on the high setting usually if the windows are shut. The machine usually works well. Sometimes it seems I don't press a button completely and it doesn't start when it should. The handle you carry the water by seems flimsy and likely to break at any minute. I usually hold the water container by the bottom as well as the top handle to prevent any accidents. Overall, though, if you are looking for a .6875 capacity unit (not a 2.5 gallon unit), and you want a bare bones humidifier that will humidify a small room, you will probably be happy with this.
Rip off deceptive advertising May 9, 2010 BB Indiana (USA) 0 out of 2 found this review helpful
I've had this for about a week.
Why oh why didn't I first read the Amazon user comments before buying this (2-1/2-Gallon) 'THING'! Other people have the same complaint! (I'm smacking myself in the head)
It works and makes warm water vapor without using a fan, it's quiet except for frequent 'gurgling'. HOWEVER, it does not contain enough water to last the night! You 'think' you're getting a 2.5 gallon water tank but you're only getting a tank near .5 gallon. I have to get up in the middle of the night (which I'm not happy doing) to fill the small tank a second time and then I'm so angry i can't get back to sleep! Grrrrrrrr!
The deceptive fine print says it 'produces', 2.5 gallons of STEAM output a day! I'm not a rocket scientist but I know when I'm being mislead. BOO on the company! The deceptive description must have been written by a U.S. politician. Who measures STEAM in gallons?
Duracraft DWM250 '2-1/2-Gallon' Warm-Mist Humidifier is very deceptive.
It might be 'ok' for a few hours but not all night and since they lied about the capacity hard telling what else is wrong.
So I'll give this to a friend with a warning and I'm purchasing a Vicks unit with dual tanks, and anti-germ light for more money but I just want something that works for me and this doesn't
Granted, I should have read all the technical information and not go by the Big description at the top of the page but I kinda feel they knew what they were doing...
meh...its alright May 4, 2010 J. Critton (New York) The humidifier itself works fine (it humidifies as its supposed to), but Duracraft claims that it automatically turns off when it runs out of water - which it DOES NOT!!! I left it on once during the day while I went to work, came home, no water in it, and it was still on, steaming hot. Probably could've caused a fire if I had been away from home any longer. DON'T LEAVE IT ON AND ASSUME THE AUTO-TURN OFF WORKS!!!
works good wish it was bigger April 28, 2010 Cookin Healthy This is a pretty good little unit. I wish it had a bigger water tank. I have to run it on high to take care of my 13' by 16' room, so it doesn't last as long. It is very quiet,so it doesn't interupt my sleep. Over all I am very satisfied.
Easy to use and clean April 6, 2010 Robin R. Davis I didn't know a thing about humidifiers but decided to buy this one due to price and other reviews. It's easy to fill and take apart for cleaning. It's also quiet. I have no complaints, and am happy with my purchase.
