First Impressions and a Test Drive July 28, 2010 MomE (Florida, USA) Item just arrived and I was excited to try it out, so we tried it in our own bathroom. We have a more "oval" shaped toilet bowl and the seat fit quite awkwardly, even when placed at the front of the toilet. The picture on the box makes it appear that it covers most of the toilet and that is simply not the case at least with the oval, not round, toilets. Got it "in place" as best I could and it started to slide under my son.
So, I lifted the toilet seat and placed the PRIMO seat directly on the toilet. A much better fit. Placed my son again and he was content to sit there for a while. He's about 35 pounds though and that seems to be testing the strength of the seat! I don't think it will snap, but I foresee having to stoop down next to him to provide added stability.
I'm not keen on the idea of having to place the seat directly on the bowl in a public place... my own bathroom was one thing! For that reason, this item will see little use, save at Grandma or Auntie's house. Also, a few more pounds and I don't think my kiddo will be able to safely use it.
If your child is less than 30 pounds and/or you think you'll be using it on "round" toilets most of the time, you could give it a shot. In my situation, I doubt I'd buy it again, but perhaps I'll feel differently after trying it on another toilet. I'll update this review in a few weeks.
Love, love, love this potty seat! July 18, 2010 newlawgirl (Rock Falls, IL) My two year old has just started potty training and I needed something to use when we're out and about. I was a little hesitant to buy this after reading some of the reviews but I ultimately decided that there really wasn't anything else out there like this, so I went for it. Boy am I glad I did! My son really likes this--he grabs onto the handles and feels very comfortable. It's not that tricky to use and the seams are flat and smooth so it's easy to avoid pinches. I've used this everywhere--even in a port-o-potty--and it works great. It's light so you can toss it in a diaper bag and the plastic bag it comes in is a perfect carrying case. I am buying another one for my folks to use. This is definitely recommended.
The best friend of a potty trainer July 10, 2010 Tanya We took this product on our first summer trip this year (both our son and daughter are in potty training), and loved it. It's light, folds easily and fitted all potties we landed it on. Our kids didn't notice a big difference between Primo and their potty seats at home. A travel must have for potty trainers and trainees!
Handy for day-to-day July 8, 2010 A. Vincent I got this travel potty seat for a recent trip, which included air travel. My 2yo daughter had just started potty training. Since I didn't want a full travel potty with me while trying to fly, I opted for this seat. It has been great. It folds up very compactly and fits in any medium-sized purse or diaper bag. It folds up so the parts that touch the toilet are not exposed, and includes a large ziploc bag for travel. This seat is very easy to clean; sanitary wipes work just as well as soap and water. I feel much better using this seat as opposed to disposable seat covers, since it has handles. A must for any parent with a kid learning to use the potty!
Perfect seat...no problems June 30, 2010 dreamer806 I read all the other reviews when selecting this seat. I LOVE this seat. I actually just purchased 3 more (2 for friends and one spare to keep in my husbands car). Again, just place the lip of the seat over the front of any toilet seat. I actually didn't understand the confusion once I got my seat. I take this seat everywhere and it has worked on ALL toilets. I have had it for 6 months now and it still seems just as sturdy, and I have never worried about it cutting/pinching my daughters skin. Rest assured if you want a portable folding seat, this is the way to go. I keep mine in a ziplock freezer bag and change the bag as needed. And thank God for the handles...that way she isn't touching a dirty toilet. I thought I would have to buy those disposable toilet seat covers in addition but there was no need. I love this product!
