Broke on it's 3rd night!!! July 4, 2010

The bed rails we purchased broke on the 3rd night! I couldn't believe it! A piece of thin metal bent when i was trying to pull out the rails. then, when i was going to take off the rail to see if I could bend it back into place, the fastener that holds the straps in place flew off! I was very disappointed and wished I had purchased something different!

Frame seems pretty sturdy. Mesh helps in rigidity. Fairly easy to fold down. We leave them up most of the time on 2 year old's bed. Two year old has laid against it and it has withstood her. Middle member connection could have been designed a little better.

Our 2 year old moved from sleeping in his crib directly to a queen bed (he insists on sleeping there instead of his toddler bed)and I needed rails. I almost got fooled thinking I needed to buy two rails at $30 each until I found these - 2 rails for only $40. It wasn't that hard to put together as lots of people here are saying, and mind you, english is not my primary language. All parts are marked with numbers and instructions are actually very detailed. Once it was put on the bed (mattress actually had to be put aside in order to put rails on a queen size bed), these rails are quite sturdy and not that horrible looking. Hideaway feature does work, although there is quite a lot of "jiggling" involved but I'm sure I'll get used to it. Rails are actually 18" high, not 20" as indicated on amazon.com so they dont' come as high above our thick mattress as I would like to, but it's going to serve a purpose for my 2 year old not to fall off the bed. Overall, I am satisfied, good buy for the money.

We use this on our bed where we put our baby during the day for his naps. The product works as advertised and it really does slide between the mattress and box spring, and is not noticeable at all when we're sleeping on the bed. The negative is that the catches which lock the gates into place can be a bit of a pain to line up correctly and putting the gates up and down sometimes takes longer than it should, which is a pain for us since it goes up and down every day.
